I would just say eliminate Non-Usable augmentation effects from the list of possible ones; like Construct Drone would only appear for Hunter/Engineer, but not Hunter/Marksman, but I suppose that would spoil the fun of chance.
However, you should also be able to undo the last Augmentation for a smallish price. That way you at least would not ruin your cherished 'Loot of all Time', since if you are paying 5000-40000 Paladium, it must be s really nice item.
There is a De-Modifier that is inexpensive. There should also be a De-Augmentation ability also.
